Rise With Me. Or Say Goodbye. (poem)

I am rising

You will either rise with me

Or say goodbye

And get left in the dust.

I won’t be sorry—

I will be honest

I have no room for those on my journey

Who fail to see their own wings.

I will not crawl with you

Just to make you feel better about your own less-than-heroic ways.

Fly with me

Or leave me alone.

It’s up to you.

I know which way I’m going:

Upwards, towards the strongest rays of afternoon sun.

Upwards, to where stars are spit out and born.

Upwards, to love.

So rise with me,

Or say goodbye.

You will not tempt me off course with the weighty burdens of your heart

I know which way I’m going.
