poetry is my religion.

wildflowers are my gurus

thunderstorms are my prayers

lightning bolts are my wake up call

the smell of the grass after it rains is my home

poetry is my religion

my heart is the pen

the words,

squeezed particles of soul, born in the bravery of the fiercest breezes

poetry is the portal that brings me closer to truth

truth is the thing i love most of all

it stands tall in darkness, in pain, in love, in bright white light

poetry is my religion

i find love in the most ordinary moments,

words in slices of dark, cloudy sky

mundane moments woven together with soul

because

sacred

is everywhere

but only when i stop and look

and slow down enough

to remember that

wildflowers are my gurus.

wildflowers are my gurus

thunderstorms are my prayers

lightning bolts are my wake up call

the smell of the grass after it rains is my home

poetry

is my religion.
